astraeus observatory
Ever since I became interested in astronomy, some 20+ years ago, I had always dreamed of owning my own observatory. Only problem was, I never had the land to build one upon. When my wife and I moved back to Kentucky, that opportunity presented itself and I took advantage of it. During observatory construction, we were also building (on the same land) the house that we had always wanted. I joke with my wife now, that I finally got my observatory, and she finally got her house. Below are some pictures of construction, from beginning to end. The building process took a little longer than normal, because we were living out of town at the time and only worked on it during the weekends. The observatory is a 10’ Pro-Dome that I purchased from Technical Innovations. I’d highly recommend them if you are in the market for your own. Assembly got a bit complicated at times, but we pulled through and things turned out well. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments. I might even be able to help out if you are in the process of assembling your own Pro-Dome and have ran out of ideas on what goes where. :)
